An Investigation of Job enjoyment and Female Sports Journalists

The purpose of this study was to bid a theoretical foundation to enhance and enrich the appreciation of female sport journalists and their level of job satisfaction. In this enquiry we sought to determine satisfaction with six distinct argonas of employ by using two of the most often employ survey instruments (Job Descriptive Index and Job In General) that stones throw job satisfaction. A total of 78 surveys were completed by members of the Association for Women in Sports Media who were identi?ed as full-time employees of day-to-day newspapers. Although the journalists indicated overall satisfaction with their employment, pay, supervision, coworkers, and type of work, they were dissatis?ed with their promotional opportunities. Signi? argot differences were also found by making demographic comparisons.

Women are entering the newspaper workforce in greater amount than ever before (Media Report to Women, 1996). In fact, every category since 1977 more women than men have graduated from journalism schools (Beasley & Gibbons, 1993).
