Counselor's notes on Peer Pressure

It is really a pleasure for us to share with you in the second edition of the Eagle Eyrie. Kindly be reminded that as the school Counselors, we are available to help you and your child declare a successful school year. In this month?s edition we will be focusing on equal Pressure. This is a major issue which children on the whole face and so it is our duty to ensure that those we allowance heed are knowledgeable about the issue.

What is Peer Pressure?To point it quite simple, peer constrict is when friends or other students in class or in school put pressure on you to do something you mount?t want to do. Peer pressure is normal because you want to keep in with your friends or you enjoy being part of a collection. In position it can be very positive, for example a group of friends working together to cheer another friend up or to discourage bad behavior. But it can in addition be very negative, for example if friends or classmates encourage you to thoughtlessness your teachers and fellow classmates, or to simple waste time and pay no keen attention to your school work.

Why do students cast off in to Peer Pressure?Some students give in to peer pressure because they want to be liked, to correspond in, or because they worry that others may make fun of them if they don?t go on with the group.
